why your geographical location matters in Fortnite

Your Geographical Location

  • Where you are physically playing from can make a difference. The server you choose to connect to, and your physical proximity to it, can increase or minimize delays.

  • For tournaments and other gameplay within your geographical region, we recommend you connect to the closest server in your timezone, or closest to you in your region if you are close to a timezone border and somehow a server outside your timezone is actually closer to you.

  • When playing tournaments or participating in gameplay in a different geographical region than you live in, where you are required to connect to that geography’s server, expect delays greater than when normally playing in your region or closest server. You may want or need to modify your in-game strategy to compensate for such delays. While you may be used to taking or holding a wall, shooting someone out of mid-air, or nailing that long range sniper shot on your local server, the delay between you and a foreign server may make that more difficult than you’re used to.
