Fortnite Ch6:S1 Mobility

New CH6:S1 Mobility

In CH6:S1 there are three new kinds of mobility: the Typhoon Blade, the Void Oni Mask, and the Air Sprite...each with its own unique ability.

The TYPHOON BLADE can be obtained in both EPIC and MYTHIC forms. The EPIC versions are found in chests, on the ground, and in special stands around the map, while the MYTHIC version can only be obtained from defeating the Shogun X Boss (along with the Shogun X Medallion). Both versions allow you to sprint with increased speed and achieve further distance in jumping (height and distance). But it also comes with a stamina bar and once you've used it all, its gone.

The VOID ONI MASK also comes in both EPIC and MYTHIC variants. The EPIC version can be found in elemental chests while the MYTHIC version can only be obtained from defeating the Night Rose Boss (along with the Night Rose Medallion). Both versions allow you to throw a void tear that you can then teleport to. However, the mythic version provides 50 teleports while the epic version provides only 15. You can throw multiple void tears and will only teleport to the last one thrown when you decide to teleport. A void tear lasts for 50 seconds once thrown, so be aware of this in your planning and creativity as to how to use it.

The AIR SPRITE is one of the 3 sprites that can be found in the map. Visiting a shrine is one way to find them as it will mark nearby sprites. Throwing a wind sprite down, after first collecting one, creates an updraft that will launch you into the air and allow you to deploy your glider.

So which should you use?! The air sprite should only be used early in game when opponents are spread out across a large map, or in desperate situations. We recommend this because hitscan has returned to the game which makes flying in the air extremely risky and prone to getting shot. So carry this cuddly character on your back early in game but let them go later in game in exchange for a different mobility item.

The void oni masks and typhoon blades are completely different. Because the void oni mask allows you to teleport to wherever the void tear is thrown, you can use this for mobility upward, downward, or horizontally to scale builds, drop down large heights, scale up mountains or buildings, etc. If you teleport to a void tear while it is in the sky, you won't be prone to any fall damage, which makes this especially powerful for managing or transitioning to or from height quickly.

The void mask opens up a variety of creative possibilities like leaving a void tear in your tarp in end game and going low ground to pick up a loot refresh and then teleporting back. Just don't forget about the 50 second time limit from when the void tear is thrown/placed. Also keep in mind that the void tear is stationary once it has hit the ground, so enemies can easily follow where it lands and either be waiting for you to teleport there or even spray you from a distance upon you teleporting there.

Despite this challenge, the void masks are better in early and mid game than the typhoon blade, while also having their special use cases in end game...think about the ability to quickly rotate to new zone without ever entering storm and potentially bypassing opponents who are trying to hold back from rotating. Think also about the ability to immediately gain height on your opponent's builds by teleporting to the sky above them and being able to take a shot while dropping down on them.

The typhoon blade increases movement speed of your character and allows you to dash and jump higher. Combine this with the new movement mechanics released in CH6:S1 and let your creativity flow. Due to the diversity of the typhoon blade, it is often picked by pros more than the mask in endgame. Combined with the Shogun X Medallion, it can immediately be placed in the overpowered (OP) category of items!

Outside of tournaments there are still cars also, and motorcycles & dirt bikes have returned. Shockwaves are still a core item also. All of these are important mobility items that you should be incorporating into your movement strategy where you can.
