New Movement Mechanics
CH6:S1 released new movement mechanics across the Fortnite platform. Make sure you know how to do each of these and practice them until you're comfortable. Always a good idea to practice and warm up your movement mechanics in the pre-game lobby too...
- Ledge Jump - when sprinting towards a ledge or top of a cone and jumping at the edge, it will now do a bigger sprint jump that will take you 2 tiles instead of 1.5 in distance, and higher in the process.
- Roll Landing - if you hold jump or press it right before hitting the ground you will be able to do a rolling landing which will help maintain your momentum and restore a small amount of your stamina, but WON'T stop you from taking fall damage
- You can roll forwards or sideways, so think about how to use this to your advantage strategically to out-move your opponents.
- Wall Kick - sprint towards a wall at greater than a 45 degree angle and jump. Press jump again as you contact the wall and you’ll be able to jump up and away from the wall. It won’t take stamina but it does count against your jump fatigue so you can only jump a few times in a row.
- Wall Scramble - sprint towards a wall at less than a 45 degree angle and jump. Press jump again as you contact the wall and you’ll scale up the wall and mantle up to 2 tiles high
Also make sure you work on combining some or all of these new mechanics for new variants and efficiencies in motion. Incorporate into your normal rotations and loot paths, along with your attacks and retreats.
