Mid game strategy in Fortnite

Mid Game Strategy

Survive, get refreshes if/where possible, execute your strategy and adjust as needed

  • Be on the lookout for opportunities to 3rd party battles already happening while your opponents are already taking damage and may be distracted

  • Avoid being the victim of a 3rd party - don’t enter a large battle, and make sure you have good positioning

  • Farm building materials

  • Stock up on ammo if low

  • Try to upgrade your loot. This may be trading slow heals for quick heals, upgrading your weapon, maximizing build materials, or improving your mode(s) of transportation - be it bursts or hoverpack/jetpack, or car, etc.

  • If in tournament play where storm surge damage will trigger, try to deal damage from a distance, and try to be in a part of the zone that isn’t empty but also isn’t the most congested…try to be in a place that balances personal protection and opponent traffic.

  • Don’t get caught in zone rotations by a team ahead of you in rotation - choose your rotation path carefully and protect it

  • Try to target teams behind you in rotation

  • Build bases to deal damage from a protected space

  • If playing in a mode with cars, use a car to move quickly from zone to zone, swapping out for less damaged cars or recharging the car shield as the opportunity presents itself. Also use the car to drive through the base of opponents’ builds to force them out into the open and potentially cause fall damage.

  • Reduce your time away from your teammate. As the zone gets smaller, ability to pick up a reboot card and get to a reboot van becomes more limited.
