Inventory cycling strategy in Fortnite

Inventory Cycling Strategy

Changing to a different weapon or other item in your inventory

Strategy: place items in order in your inventory based on how often you use them and how often you switch directly from one specific item to another specific item. As an example, you may want to place your shotgun next to your AR in order to quickly cycle between the two when in a battle.

What to practice:

  • Try different inventory placement strategies and stick with them for a few games at a time to see what works best for you and your style of gameplay.
  • Practice reordering items rapidly and while using auto-run. This will help you move faster when cycling loot to reduce your time of exposure and help you get faster at sharing or exchanging items with your teammate(s).

Also practice throwing (not dropping, but literally throwing) specific items to a teammate, such as heals or shield. There are a few other items each season that may be throwable as well. This ability is important if you get separated during a battle and need an item to survive. You may also strategically throw an item away from you if you’re about to be eliminated so that it is harder, or at least takes longer, for your opponent to get it. You may also throw it into a specific location to lead them into a trap.

To throw an item, change to the desired item, then hold your “aim in” button, then look/aim to where you want to throw it, then press your shoot button to throw it. Looking up higher results in a longer throw, up to a limit.
